A friend gifted me The Art of Expecting when I was pregnant. Reading her inscription even now almost two and a half years later brings me back to that moment of being five months pregnant beginning to dream about my new life and role as a parent. This book is such a nice alternative to the more common what-to-expect books. A beautiful book that helps you slow your thinking down and daydream about all the good things (and less about everything that could go wrong). Like the kind of parent you hope to be and the kind of home you want to cultivate for your new family.
My favorite part is the “Recipes for Instant Comfort.” Buttery applesauce, buttery baked egg, buttery bread mash. It’s just a sweet little book and I’d recommend it for a read while you are pregnant or as a great, simple but endlessly sweet gift for a pregnant friend.
