Book Review: In the Spirit of Crazy Horse

books for single moms

Ok. This is tome. At 634 pages In the Spirit of Crazy Horse is, literally, not light reading. And it’s not light reading in any other sense either – but I think it should be required reading for anyone living in the United States. It covers the history of the Lakota tribe from 1835 to 1981 – centering on the tribe’s struggle against the U.S. government. I first read this book at eighteen years old and I can say without a doubt it shaped me as a person and therefore as a mother now 15 years later. I think about the things I learned in this book all the time. Almost everyday.

Be ready, because this book will wake you up. You won’t be the same.
